In the Name of Allaah, Ar-Rahmaan, Ar-Raheem...
Part of a tele-link the brothers had in ’07 on zakaah, and how it purifies one’s soul and wealth. The fact that the apportioned zakaah of an individual is not their wealth but rather something that belongs to the rightful people in need of zakaah, a purification of one's wealth, wealth that Allaah blessed him/her with - wealth that they could not have accumulated except for Allaah's mercy and wealth that could be removed if Allaah so wills. So take heed Muslims - Zakaah purifies your wealth!

During a tele-link with the noble scholar, Shaykh 'Ubayd al-Jaabiree, we
asked a question in regards to the ignorant debater. One who debates
the people of innovation while he himself is not well-grounded in
Islaamic knowledge, an issue that is becoming prominent in the west.

A number of ahaadeeth indicating the impermissibility of saying inshaa
Allaah (if Allaah wills), or in shi’ta (if You will),
in supplications to Allaah. Rather one should be firm in his request
as Allaah does as he wills, and no one can force him to do anything.

In the Name of Allaah, Ar-Rahmaan, Ar-Raheem... Our beloved brother Dawud Adib, whilst discussing the importance of having one's tongue moist with the dhikr of Allaah before death over takes you, mentions two poignant stories. The first of the two; an American that lived a life of crime, but in his last moments of his life, devoted himself to Allaah sincerly, and made his final words the shahaadah. The second is a story of a group of friends who's final moments were spent in the remembers of other than Allaah, rather in the dhikr of music. We ask Allaah to make our ends one that is pleasing to Him. تنوير العقول في الفرق بين النبي والرسول
Tanweerul-‘Uqool Fil-Farq Baynan-Nabee war-Rasool
(Enlightenment for the Mind in Explanation of: The Difference between a Prophet and a Messenger)
Author: Shaykh Muhammad al-Imaam
We ask Allaah to make its completion possible.
Definition of an-Nabee النبي in the Language and It's Usage
The essence of the definitions from the scholars of the language for the term ‘ an-Nabee’ can be summed up in three different sayings:
1. The meaning of it is: the one who brings information about Allaah and conveys His legislation, either being urged to do so (by Allaah) or without being urged. And this definition is the preference of most of the scholars of the language. 1
2. That it is derived from the word: “ النبو An-Nubuw” to be far off, distant. And it is الارتفاع al-Irtafaa'a (elevation). And an-Nabee with this definition means: The one who is favoured over the rest of the people with the raising of his rank. So he is elevated above the creation and his status is raised amongst them. And upon this definition some of the people of knowledge are united. 2
3. Its meaning is: الطريق at-Tareeq (path or way) and he is called an-Nabee because he is the way to guidance.
These three definitions are (all correct). For verily, the Prophets are chosen (by Allaah) with Wahi (revelation) from Allaah to convey His legislation and to follow it.

‘O Muslims - Music Intoxicates the Intellect!!
17. Ridding your house (if you can) of any type of bells
Abu Hurayrah reported Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) as saying: “The bell is the musical instrument of Shaytaan.”1
If this is the case, - the bell is the musical instrument of Iblees - then how could it be that a Muslim claiming to fear Allaah, has reverberating in their cars or pounding in their homes; jazz, rhythm and blues, pop, hip-hop, gangster rap tunes or the like? Much worse than that, is the musical tune coming from the mobile/cell phones in the houses of Allaah, especially during the times of salaah!
Shaykhul Islaam Ibnul-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah said in his book ‘Madaarijus Saalikeen’ (1/485) said: “How astonishing! That is, what type of faith, light, insight, guidance and knowledge can be gained from listening to tuneful verse and music in which most of what is said is prohibited and warrants that Allaah be angry with and would warrant the punishment of Allaah and His Messenger?"
He also said in his book ‘Ighaathatul-Lahfaan’ (1/258-259) “Singing [and music] is worse and more harmful than stories of emperors, because it directs [one] to adultery and fornication and it is the fountainhead of hypocrisy. It is the snare of the Shaytaan, and it intoxicates the intellect. Its obstructing (people) from the Qur’aan is worse than any way in which other types of phony speech blocks them, because the souls of people lean towards [sounds like this] and have the desire to listen to it”.
How can anyone who has the slightest amount of baseerah (keen insight) and life in his heart attempting to draw near to Allaah and increase his faith by enjoying something which is hated by Him, and He loathes the one who says it and the one who accepts it?

By Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafeeq
The second of three talks from the set entitled: The Concern for Tawheed in Relation to Rectification of the Ummah (Islam in Our Times, April '07 - Toronto, Canada). In this segment, Abu Iyaad identifies various groups and sects of Islaam, and how most, if not all of them were influenced by the Kuffar in their methodology of supposed 'rectification' and the calamitous result of their straying from the Prophetic Methodology. From the sects examined: The Khawaarij, the Murji'ah, the Ikhwaanul-Muslimoon (including Sayyid Qutb), the Mu'tazilah, the Shia and the Qadariyyah.
