O Seekers of Knowledge!

Words of wisdom from the Imāms of the Salaf concerning the strong encouragement to seek knowledge of Islām.

Preserving the Unity and Avoiding the Trouble-Makers

  Shaykh ʿUbayd ibn ʿAbdullāh al-Jābirī

Advice to the Salafīs of America concerning unity (June 2014). In a time where the daʿwah in America is stronger than ever, when unity and cooperation is better than before, some have taken to criticise and breakdown this progress and turn against the duʿāt. The noble Shaykh emphasises the need to support one another and work together and to avoid troublemakers.

Return Back to Your Religion

Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banná

Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banná́ gives some beautiful naṣīhah to the Muslims regarding the importance of returning back to the true reliigion of Allāh in order for the affairs of the Muslims to be rectified; a great reminder especially in light of current affairs and the propagation of takfīrī groups such as ISIS. This is followed by a highly beneficial Q&A session with the shaykh (raḥimahullāh) wherein he praises our noble Shaykh Rabī ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī (hafiẓahullāh) with regards to his knowledge of the men of this time.

Return to Your Religion

  al-ʿAllāmah Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banná́

A warm admonition from the noble shaykh, Muḥammad al-Banná́, encouraging the Muslims to return back to the dīn of Allāh. An encouragement to return back in belief as well as action, as this is the only true path to success in this life and the hereafter. The Shaykh highlights the importance of not only believing and intending to implement the Sunnah but furthermore to be upon the way of the saḥābah. A long question and answer session on comprehensive issues follows.

Safeguarding the Tongue

A reminder filled with narrations from the Prophet and his Companions concerning the grave sins of the tongue.

Selections from: My Advice to the Women

  Abū ʿAbdullāh Ḥasan al-Ṣumālī

Selections from the first series of lessons based on the book, "My Advice to the Women." The series was started in 2003. It was broadcast on PalTalk and locally at The Reign of Islamic Daʿwah Centre (a daʿwah office at the time) in Toronto, Canada. 20 or 30 brothers (some travelling distances) would sit in a small room and into the hallways of the office complex, straining to listen to the audio over the computer speakers. The series was very popular and reproduced by the author (Ḥasan al-Ṣumālī) at later dates in the USA.

Shaykh Fawzān on the Manners of Refuting Mistakes

  Abū al-ʿAbbās Mūsá Richardson

A reflection upon the manners of the noble scholar, Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān, concerning the methodology of refuting mistakes. A response to enquiries (made to the speaker) citing Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān in regards to how to approach/correct misguidance. An important study towards understanding exactly how refutation is made. An important clarification about the claim that it is dishonourable and disrespectful to refute, and that the one who has efforts in da'wah shouldn't be refuted (only advised)—even if he is an opponent to the Sunnah. An important lecture to acknowledge, especially in today's cut/paste blogosphere where deceptive trickesters can snip statements of the scholars (attempting to water down the religion and confuse the unsuspecting Muslim).

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān's Advice to Ahl al-Sunnah In Yemen Who Are Being Fought by the Ḥūthiyūn

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Important advice and reflections from Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān

[Q]: What is your advice to our brothers from Ahl al-Sunnah in Yemen who are being fought by the Houthiyoon (Rāfidah Shīʿah)?

[A]: Upon them is to depend upon Allāh ('azza wa jal) and to supplicate to Allāh abundantly. They should defend themselves and their wealth according to their ability. What has afflicted them is as a result of their differing among themselves. If only they united under one banner nobody would have been able to interfere in their affairs.  However, when they split, and each one wanted what he desired, it occurred to them what you see.  Yes...  I advise them to have patience and to carry out that which is required, and from that is to come together and not be divided:

وَلاَ تَنَازَعُواْ فَتَفْشَلُواْ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ وَاصْبِرُواْ
Do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength departs, and be patient...
[Sūrah al-Anfāl: 46]
وَلاَ تَكُونُواْ كَالَّذِينَ تَفَرَّقُواْ وَاخْتَلَفُواْ
And be not as those who divided and differed among themselves...
[Sūrah Āli-ʿImrān: 105]

Should We Go to the Rahma Conference?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Recently we have received many enquiries about the 'rahma' conference upcoming in Toronto and Edmonton, Canada. Who are the speakers? What is their ʿAqīdah (Creed) and Methodology? Who are al-itihaad and al-Itisaam and what is their connection to extremism in Somalia? Due to these questions, we have contacted some of the Ṣumālī mashaayikh and compiled information on some of the attendees in order to make the affair clear...so should I attend the 'rahma' conference or not?

Taking Advantage of Your Health and Time

  Shaykh ʿAbdullāh al-Bukhārī

In this talk our noble shaykh ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥīm ibn Ḥusayn ibn Maḥmūd al-Saʿdi al-Bukhārī al-Madīnī حفظه الله explains the famous ḥadīth recorded by Imām al Bukhārī رحمه الله, narrated on the authority of ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said "There are two blessings which many of the people do not take advantage of: Good health and free time."

The Advice of Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī to the Salafīs of the West

  Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī

A beautiful advice given by our noble shaykh, translated by Ḥasan al-Ṣumāli, regarding the importance of maintaining brotherhood amongst the Salafīs, and loving and advising one another for the sake of Allāh, alongside an encouragement to display lofty and noble manners and an admonishment against vile and despicable characteristics.

The Advice of Sufyān al-Thawrī

Advice from the great Imām, Sufyān ibn Saʿīd al-Thawrī concerning leaving off the various fitan that had already afflicted the Ummah in his time.
