Benefit: How To Handle a Hajurite Ḥizbī

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

A question posed to Ustādh ʿAbdu-ilāh Laḥmāmī concerning interacting with the Ḥajāwirah (the supporters of the innovator, Yaḥyá al-Ḥajūrī). The lecturer mentions some of the grave errors of al-Ḥajūrī and his followers (like Abū Fujūr) and how the Scholars have addressed him and thus how we should handle them.

[Q]: If there are brothers who follow Yaḥyá al-Ḥajūrī, how do you interact with them, they claim to be upon the Sunnah...?

Benefit: Refuting the Innovators and Their Corrupt Methodologies Is an Established Practice of the Salaf

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá al-Najmī(رحمه الله) stated: “Refuting [the innovators and their corrput methodologies] is an established practice of the Salaf. Only a person of desires or someone who is weak in knowledge fears it.”

Benefit: The Scholars of al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl Are a Blessing

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Muḥammad Amān al-Jāmī (رحمه الله) said:

The mere existence of scholars of al-jarḥ wa-al-taʿdīl (the science of criticism and praise in Islām) is a favour from Allāh and a form of preservation of His religion.

Benefit: What Gripe Do You Have with Me? - Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī(ḥafiẓahullāh) was asked:
"Indeed you refute every innovator and anyone who opposes the way of the pious predecessors, and from among them are those who use weak narrations to establish certain issues, but al-Imām al-Barbahārī, using weak and fabricated narrations, affirmed certain issues. So how is it that you refute those who use weak ḥadīth, and leave the scholars of the Salaf?"

The Shaykh responded: First of all, I do not submit to the fact that al-Barbahārī uses fabricated and weak narrations to establish points; clarify this to us! And what gripe do you have with me? I respect all of the righteous scholars of the past, not belittling them in the least, and all praises belong to Allāh. We only refute the people of innovation. As for the righteous scholars of the past who were known for sincerity, truthfulness, and religion, then even if they make a mistake we still consider them to be rewarded for those efforts. The Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhī wa-sallam) said:

"Whoever strives hard (seeking the truth) and is correct, for him is two rewards. And whoever strives hard (seeking the truth) and he is wrong, then for him is a single reward."[al-Bukhārī and Muslim]

Therefore, if a scholar is known for piety, righteousness, and truthfulness in searching for the truth, then he will be rewarded even if he errs. As for the people of innovation, then this does not apply to them, because they merely follow their own desires.

Shaykh Rabīʿ: "Aḥmad Bazmūl is an ʿĀlim...Had he not Refuted ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī I Would Have

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

On the authority of Aḥmad az-Zahraanee (may Allāh preserve him and bless him), Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī (may Allāh preserve him and bless him) said, when asked about Aḥmad Bāzmūl in comparison to ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī:

  أحمد بازمول عالِمٌ دَرَسَ الحديثَ والعقيدةَ والفقهَ على علماء ومؤصِّلُ تأصيلٍ علميٍّ ودكتور في الجامعة ، ولو لَمْ يَرُدَّ على عليٍّ الحلبيِّ لَرَدَدْتُ أنا عليه لكنَّه كَفَانِي

"...Aḥmad Bāzmūl is an 'aalim who studied Ḥadīth, 'Aqīdah, and Fiqh under the scholars, well-grounded in knowledge, a doctor in the university.  Had he not refuted ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī, I would have done so myself.  However, he has sufficed me..."
This is in light of claims that Shaykh Aḥmad Bāzmūl has preceded the scholars with his open refutations and warnings against ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī.

Warning from Misguidance, Innovation and Their People Is Not Completed Except by Differentiating, Classifying and Identifying the Various Groups, Naming and Labelling Them, and Describing Them with Their Respective Characteristics

  Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar Bazmūl

An important article for those who claim that refuting falsehood and it's callers is harmful and destructive. They claim that refuting the Ḥizbiyūn is division, lacking mercy and foresight. In reality, this is a scheme to protect the callers to innovation and to deviate the heart of the believer. Dr. Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar Bazmūl explains this important issue.
