A Single Ummah

Knowledge-filled words from the scholars, past and present, regarding Muslim unity.

Benefit: Allāh Decreed the Division of the Ummah

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh ‘Abd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz (رحمه الله) said:

Without a doubt, this division causes pain to every Muslim. It is mandatory upon the Muslims to gather upon the truth and to work together upon goodness and piety; however, Allāh decreed the division of the Ummah due to His great wisdom and praiseworthy objectives, for which He should be praised. No one knows its details except Him. Differentiating His awliyā’ [i.e friends] from His enemies and differentiating those who exert themselves to seek the truth from those who turn away from it, following their desires, are from those objectives.

Benefit: Do the Salafīs Get Exhausted Constantly Calling to Tawḥīd?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh al-Albānī: Nūḥ (ʿalayhi al-salām) remained with his people for nine hundred and fifty years, spending his time devoted to calling (the people) to Tawḥīd. Thus, it is required from us that we start with that which the Prophet (Muḥammad) ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam started with, and it was to firstly rectify that which has become corrupt with regards to the ʿaqīdah of the Muslims.

Benefit: Stand United upon the Truth!

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī (حفظه الله) stated: “The Ummah will only be strong, successful, and respected if it adheres to the Book and the Sunnah and avoids differing.”

ولا عزة و لا سعادة و لا كرامة للأمة في هذه الدنيا والآخرة, إلا بتنفيذ هذا الأمر الواجب, وهو الاعتصام بحبل الله جميعا , والابتعاد عن التفرق

Benefit: Trials Faced by Some of the Muslim Youths Today

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Muḥammad Amān ibn ʿAlī al-Jāmī (رحمه الله) stated:

From the trials that some of our youths are faced with are:
[1] Hastiness to excommunicate Muslims
[2] Hastiness to accuse Muslims of heresy and misguidance
[3] Becoming quickly absorbed in dishonouring others

قال الشيخ (رحمه الله): من الفتن التي ابتليَ بها بعض الشباب التسرع في التكفير والتبديع والتضليل والخوض في أعراض الناس

Benefit: Why Don't All the Mosques Come Together and Solve the Problems of the Youth?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Many questions from Muslims, young and old, are based on the topic of unity among Muslims. It is often asked, "Why don't all the mosques come together with the common objective of helping the youth?" Is this the unity Allāh commanded us with? Why is there so much differing amongst the Muslims? Our brother, Abū ʿAbdillāh Ḥasan al-Ṣumālī, comprehensively addressed this important question and clarifies some misconceptions on this topic. Take a listen to this response and understand the reality of unity. May Allāh guide you.

False Desires: Their Evil Effect upon Unity

Speaking about the affairs of religion must only be done purely for Allāh's sake. One's intention must exemplify this in calling to Allāh. The allowance of desires to disturb this pure intention only causes ruin to the hearts of people.

Is Differing a Mercy - How Do We Unite the Ummah?

  Abū Khadījah

The topic is related to the unity of the Muslims, the issue of ikhtilāf - differing and splitting. There is not a single Muslim alive today who has anything to do with the dīn or religion of Allāh (subhānahu wa taʿāla) except that he recognizes the fact that Muslims are divided and they have split and they are torn apart and that they are in fractions. No Muslim can fail to recognize this, anyone who is involved in da'wah, anyone who is involved in mainstream islam will recognize this.

Is Differing a Raḥmah? What Should We Be United Upon?

  Abu al-ʿAbbās Mūsá Richardson

An important session considering that we live in an era of multiple groups and parties, all claiming to be upon the Sunnah, some upon separate paths, others supposedly cooperating in the name of ‘unity’ yet completely divided in their beliefs and aspirations, desiring to unite people upon falsehood, agreeing to be silent about deviation, ḥizbīyyah and utter opposition to the pure Islamic ʿAqīdah, all disguised by the pure and beautiful term of ‘Islamic Unity’..

Preserving the Unity and Avoiding the Trouble-Makers

  Shaykh ʿUbayd ibn ʿAbdullāh al-Jābirī

Advice to the Salafīs of America concerning unity (June 2014). In a time where the daʿwah in America is stronger than ever, when unity and cooperation is better than before, some have taken to criticise and breakdown this progress and turn against the duʿāt. The noble Shaykh emphasises the need to support one another and work together and to avoid troublemakers.

Stop the Discord!

  Abū ʿUways

A multifaceted discussion regarding the critically serious issue of brotherhood and the destructive effect of discord plaguing many of our communities today.
