Due to immigration issues - Amir (Loon) will not be attending, I believe it stems from some charges (US) before Islām which were serious (although he was never convicted). He arrived in Canada late on Sat. night but wasn't able to get in.
On the plus side - Shaykh al-ʿAnjarī will give a telelink in his timeslot today @ 2PM insha'Allaah
This is an extract of the notes taken during Br. Abū Khadījah's lecture on the topic "Sticking to the Jamaah". Here are the 3 types of relations between Qur'an and Sunnah
Sunnatul Muwafaqah - Rulings are same in Qur’an and Sunnah exactly…e.g. In Qur’an, Allah says u should pray and in Sunnah, Rasoolullah sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam said u should pray. In Qur'an Allah says we should speak the Truth and in Sunnah Rasoolullah sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam says the same.
Sunnah Mubayyinah - Quran is general and Sunnah explains it…e.g. details of Ṣalāh are not in Qur'an. what to recite in Sajdah, what to recite in ruku', etc. is not in Qur'an.
Sunnah istiqlaliyyah - Sunnah is independent of the Qur'an e.g. RasoolullAllah sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam mentioned something that is not mentioned in the Qur’an at all. e.g. command to grow beard. Forbiddence of plucking eyebrows and tattoo, etc. Proof is athar of Ibn Masood about a woman plucking & tattoos and the woman said she read Qur’an and didn’t find this forbiddance. Also the ḥadīth, "Everyone of my ummah will enter jannah except those who refuse."
