wa alaykumus-salāmu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh...

Someone said in class "Masaa'il al-Jaahiliyyah" which I would really like to do. Its 120+ points about how the Messenger (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) opposed the pre-islaamic jaahiliyyah customs. there are MANY MANY benefits to be gained from this book as sadly, many people who ascribe to Islām have fallen back into these blameworthy traits.

Some of the most important things that I am considering are:

Has the book been taught before w/ recordings in English available from a reliable student of knowledge? (If so, then we'll find something else.)

Have I studied the book personally under one (or more) of the scholars?

The length of the book (this time I need to pick something short that can be completed in 10-20 sittings)

With these guidelines, I really prefer Masaa'il al-Jaahiliyyah, unless someone knows that it has been taught in English and the recordings are good and available...?

How about al-Ibaanaah as-Sugharaa by Ibn Battah [d. 387 AH]? It's a historic book, and it's a nice combination of 'Aqīdah, manhaj, and Fiqh.

Another suggestion is Manhaj as-Saalikeen by as-S'adee in Fiqh.

May Allah grant you success in whatever you choose.

Assalāmu 'alaikum warahmatullaah,

That's a great recommendation @ doing a new book, as sharḥ us sunnaah and usool uth thalaatha have been covered by Abū Talhah Dawood Ibn Ronald Burbank (Rahimahullaahu ta'ala)in form of translation:

- ittibaa.com/sharḥ-us-sunnah.html
- ittibaa.com/al-usool-uth-thalaathah.html

Also, I wanted to make a request; whichever book is finalized, could troid give us a link to buying the book as some countries do not have Ṣaḥīh Islāmic bookshops.

Sharḥ Usūl Al Īmān seems like a good book to study inshaaAllaah if Maas’ilul-Jaahilyyah is not going to be taught.

I would love the opportunity to complete something that our beloved brother Abū Talha (may Allaah have mercy on him) was not able to finish. Perhaps this idea should be given priority...?
