Bismillah,

As-Salaamu 'Alaykum,

Tonight on the radio, the Muftee of Saudi Arabia, ‘Abdul-'Azīz Aali ash-Shaykh, may Allah protect him, mentioned a nice fiqh point when asked about those who fast, yet, they don’t pray. He mentioned that praying is more important than fasting.

He mentioned that prayer is always obligatory upon a person, even if he is sick or travelling, however, a person doesn't have to fast due to an illness or because of journey. This shows that prayer is more important.

He mentioned that he fears that those who fast and don’t pray will have their fast thrown back in their faces, and that the difference between a Muslim and a non-Muslim is the prayer!
