AsSalaam aleykum my beloved and precious brothers and sisters! I love you all for the sake of Allah.

I have a question insha-Allah about the greeting in our 2 cEids.

The following link explanes the greeting (on page 18):

www.troid.ca/ibaadah/islaamic-celebratio...ng-the-two-eeds.html

My question is about the practice of that greeting. I see the brothers embrace/hug eachother. Some do it 4 times, some 3 times and some brothers do it 2 times (and maybe others do it 5 times or 6 times and so forth). And also some brothers kiss instead of saying what is mentioned in the link page 18.

What do our cUlumaa-e say about this practice? How should we practice it?

Wa'asSalaam.

AsSalaam aleykum!

It is strange but I found my answer within 24 hours of opening of this topic. Unfortunatelly I did not mention it earlier, but here it is:

fatwaislam.com/fis/index.cfm?scn=fd&ID=910

Still it is not detailed, like: how much hugs, is it just to the right of each other, or first right then left. And also do note that it is not a fatwa concerning the 2 cEids.

Wa'Allahu aclem!

If you can understand arabic, I believe this issue was addressed by Shaykh Uthaymīn, raḥimahullāh, in his Majmoo' Fatawa. I believe his work is searchable via the website:

www.ibnothaimeen.com

I suggest searching about 'eid. The research may take some time...
