Alhamdulillāh, Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) has blessed us in this month of Ramadhān to be alive, and reap the benefits of Qiyām and Siyām,

(Musnad Imam Aḥmad)

Īmānan wahtisāban, what does it mean īmānan wahtisāban? He stands the nights in prayers, he fast the days of Ramadhān and he gets up in Laylatul Qadr, īmānan wahtisāban. If you look at what Shaykh Uthaymīn (rahimahullāh) and Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al Fawzān and other Scholars, they said īmān with true faith, that you know that this is the dīn of Allāh, that you are practising with true faith, that this is the ḥaqq; this ṣiyām, this qiyām, with this is salvation; that you know that ajar is only with Allāh, no doubt that reward is only with Allāh; īmānan wahtisāban. So may Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) make us of those who stand up in the nights of Ramadhān and fast the days of Ramadhān and wake up in Laylatul Qadr that whole night; īmānan wahtisāban; seeking the reward from Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla), for no doubt only he (subhānahu wa ta’āla) will give that reward, only he (subhānahu wa ta’āla) will give reward and in full, and more, na’am, because whoever does one good deed, it is multiplied ten times,

‘O my people! Follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct, O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” [Ghafir: 38]

This life is only play and amusement, and there hereafter, that is the dār ul qarār, this is dār ul mamar, this is passing by; ‘Be in this world as though you are a stranger’, but the ākhirah is the dārul qarār; it is the abode, wherever you’re going to go,

‘A party will be in Paradise and a party will be in the fire’ (Shura: 7)

‘This life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the Hereafter that is the home that will remain forever. Whosoever does an evil deed, will not be requited except the like thereof, and whosoever does a righteous deed, whether male or female and is a true believer (in the Oneness of Allāh), such will enter Paradise, where they will be provided therein (with all things in abundance) without limit. (Ghafir: 38-39)

Whoever does one bad deed, he will get that one bad deed that is written for him, but whoever does a good deed, whether male or female, and he is a believer, they are the ones who will enter paradise, being rewarded and given sustenance and provision, lā shak, wa lā rayb. Read in the Qur’ān for example, in this blessed month of Famadhān, the month of Qur’ān,

‘The month of Ramadān in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion’ (Baqarah: 185)

This month of Qur’ān is for the Qur’ān, finish it at least once, Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allāh, he will have a reward, and this reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that ‘Alif, Lām, Mīm’ is a letter, rather I am saying that ‘Alif’ is a letter, ‘Lām’ is a letter and ‘Mīm’ is a letter.” [At-Tirmithi]

This is the month of Qur’ān, read the Qurān, iqra’ul Qur’ān,

‘Read the Qur’ān, for verily it will come on the Day of Standing as an intercessor for its companions.” [Muslim]

The Qur’ān will come as an intercessor for its companion, for the one used to read it, so read the Qur’ān regularly until you finish it at least once in this month of Ramadhān, especially the nights of Ramadhān, the last nights of Ramadhān, remembering Allāh,

‘Those who remember Allāh (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides,’ (Imrān: 191)

In all situations, standing, sitting, lying down,

‘The men and the women who remember Allāh much, Allāh has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward.’ ( Ahzāb: 35)

Wallāhi! We are in need of forgiveness, we are in need, because as with anyone in this room, there is none of us except that we sin,
‘All of the Children of Ādam sin, and make mistakes, and the best of those who sin are those who seek repentance.’ (Ahmed)

‘O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance’ (Tahrīm: 8)

We need to keep repenting to Allāh a sincere repentance daily, Rasūlullāh (sallallāhu ‘alayhī wa sallam), seventy times a day he would seek forgiveness, in another wording, a hundred times a day; istighfār, astaghfirullāh astaghfirullāh astaghfirullāh. We are in need of this, these are your bāqiyāt-us-ṣāliḥāt, your tasbīh, your saying subhānallāh, walhamdulilāh wa lā ilāha illallāh, Allāhu akbar; these are your bāqiyāt-us-ṣāliḥāt,

‘But the good righteous deeds, that last, are better with your Lord for rewards and better in respect of hope.’ (Kahf: 46)

This is the best with your Lord that you can get in this life; is to be upon the dhikr of Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla), the dhikr of Allāh, staying in the Masjid, reading the Qur’ān, na’am,

‘When a group of people assemble for the remembrance of Allāh, the angels surround them (with their wings), (Allāh’s) mercy envelops them, Sakeenah, or tranquillity descends upon them and Allāh makes a mention of them before those who are near Him.” (Muslim).

Angels come and descend and come around them, subhānallāh, they are reading Qur’ān in the houses of Allāh, angels descend, and also the rahma comes to them, rahma, mercy, and also before that it mentions sakeena, tranquility, and the fourth one is Allāh mentions them with those who are in the highest places, Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla mentions you in a better gathering, those who mention him, Allāh will mention them in a better gathering.
Dhikr of Allāh, Wallāh! We are in need of the dhikr of Allāh, to keep Shayṭān at bay, this is our opportunity, the month of Ramadhān, to take a head start, the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhī wa sallam) was the most generous of people and the most generous in Ramadhān, most generous in this month; this is the month of generosity, the month of kindness, the month of mercy; give your charity, Zakāh Zakāh Zakāh, the obligatory charity; whatever you have your savings after a year, give your charity, for indeed yawm-ul-qiyāmah those who don’t pay their charity, hadith in Bukharī, those who don’t pay their charity, on yawm-ul-qiyāmah, they will be scolded with the Zakāh that they didn’t used to give, they will be scolded with their money that they used to hoard, whether its gold or silver, it will be used to burn their sides; nas’alallāha salāmah; if it was camels they didn’t pay Zakāt for, the camels will come and bite them, and tread all over them, if it was cows that they used to own as wealth, then the bulls will come and horn them, as the Messenger (sallallāhu ‘alayhī wa sallam) said, fifty thousand years yawm-ul-qiyāmah. Shaykh Rabī’ (hafidhahullāh) he said, ‘Fifty thousand years? If we had five minutes of this punishment it would be sufficient for the person not to be able to withhold, and withstand this punishment’; fifty thousand years, of ‘adhāb for those who don’t pay the Zakāh, on yawm-ul-qiyāmah. So pay the Zakāh, be charitable, Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla many times mentions with Ṣalāh, ‘wa ātuz Zakāh’; always mentioning the Zakāh, being charitable, purify the greed, the greed that is in us, purify your soul, with Ramadhān, the month of fasting, Wallāh! We are in need of this Ramadhān, we are in need of purification, we are in need of turning to Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla), for He is the one we are going to turn to in the end,

‘And our return will be to Allāh’ (Ghafir: 43)

Look how fast Ramadhān has gone so far, we are coming to the last ten nights, nearly finishing twenty days of Ramadhān fasting, people thinking eighteen hours, so long, look how Allāh has made it easy for us, life is going quickly like the blink of an eye, and in the end either Jannah or Nār, there is no third place; may Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) bless us in this month of Ramadhān to improve for this ajal that he has given us, Wallāhi! This ajal is going to come,

‘And every nation has its appointed term; when their term comes, neither can they delay it nor can they advance it an hour’ (A’raf: 34)

When the ajal comes it is not delayed an hour nor is it preceded, ajal will come on time, everyone’s death is going to come on time; so may Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla make our time when it comes that we say ‘lā ilāha ilallāh Muhammad Rasūlullāh’, sincerely from our hearts, when our ajal comes, and every Ummah has an ajal, has an appointed time, nobody is going to escape death, na’am,

‘And the stupor of death will come in truth: “This is what you have been avoiding!”’ (Qaf: 19)

And when the agonies of death come as Allāh calls it, that is what you were running away from,

‘And every person will come forth along with an (angel) to drive (him), and an (angel) to bear witness. (It will be said to the sinners): “Indeed you were heedless of this, now We have removed your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!”’ (Qaf: 21-22)

Na’am, the eyesight on yawm-ul-qiyāmah, very sharp, khalās, who has seen yawm-ul-qiyāmah, nobody, this is the reality, that we are all going to reach our time as the Messenger (sallallāhu ‘alayhī wa sallam) himself said, ‘Death has its agonies’ (Bukharī), and that is Rasūlullāh (sallallāhu ‘alayhī wa sallam), and he would sweat and he had agonies; so may Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) make our death easy upon Tawhīd and Sunnah, may Allah (subhānahu wa ta’āla) make this life for us which is beneficial for us yā Rabb; we are in need of Ramadhān, we are in need of the Qur’ān, we are in need of the Sunnah of Rasūlullāh (sallallāhu ‘alayhī wa sallam), we are in need of Ṣalāh, we are in need of Qur’ān, Wallāh! Life is short, we are going to get our reckoning ‘yawm amal wa ghadan hisāb’,

‘O you who believe! Fear Allāh and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the tomorrow, and fear Allāh. Verily, Allāh is All-Aware of what you do.’ (Hashr: 18)

And fear Allāh, Allāh knows all that you do,

‘And be not like those who forgot Allāh (i.e. became disobedient to Allāh) and He caused them to forget their ownselves, those are the Fāsiqūn’ (Hashr: 19)

‘Not equal are the dwellers of the Fire and the dwellers of the Paradise. It is the dwellers of Paradise that will be successful’ (Hashr: 20)

The people of paradise they are the ones who are successful, na’am.

‘Enter you therein in peace and security — this is a Day of eternal life!’ (Qāf: 34)

Enter it, it will be said to you, with salām, with peace, with security, and as for those on the opposite side, who will enter into the hellfire, na’am they will enter and the gates of hellfire, they will be entered

‘Did no Warner come to you?’ (Mulk: 8)

‘Yes indeed a Warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: ‘Allāh never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.’’ (Mulk: 9)

This is the reality of those entering the hellfire,

‘And they will cry: “O Mālik (Keeper of Hell)! Let your Lord make an end of us. He will say: “Verily you shall abide forever.” “’ (Zukhruf: 77)

You will stay in there this is your abode, this is what your deserving of, and Shaykh ‘Abdurrahman as Sa’di (rahimahullāh), he mentioned when Allah (subhānahu wa ta’āla mentioned that the people of hellfire will go into the hellfire, and everyone will say alhamdulillāh, even the kāfir going to the hellfire, he will say alhamdulillāh; full of al hamd his heart is. Shaykh ‘Abdurrahman as Sa’di said, full of hamd his heart will be because the kāfir, even the disbeliever will recognise that he is deserving of this punishment, that the disbeliever and everyone else will be entered into the hell fire, they recognise that they are deserving of this punishment and no doubt Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) is the Most Just, na’am, Allāh does not oppress anyone; Allāh has made harām for himself dhulm, so those entering the hellfire, Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla is Just and they are deserving of that punishment, nas’alallāha salāma, and they will be full,

‘And it will be said. All the praises and thanks are to Allāh, the Lord of the ‘Ālamīn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).”’ (Zumar: 75)

Yes, everyone will say ‘alhamdulillāhi rabbil ‘ālameen’, it’s too late, we have to be upon hamd now. this life which is short, which is going past us like the blink of an eye, Rasūlullāh (sallallāhu ‘alayhī wa sallam) he would say ‘O Allāh don’t leave me to myself for a blink of an eye,’ because I am in need of you Allāh, even the blink of an eye, not relying upon you,

‘And put your trust (O Muhammad) in the Ever Living One Who dies not’ (Furqān: 58)

We are in need of Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla), Hayy, al Qayyūm, the Self Subsisting; everything is in need of Allāh, (subhānahu wa ta’āla) to exist, al Hayyul Qayyūm, na’am, al Azīz al Jabbār, the Almighty the Compeller, (subhānahu wa ta’āla), no one can escape His Kingdom,

‘Where are you going to go?’ (Takwīr: 26)

No one is able to escape, may Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) make this month of Ramadhān, this last ten nights striving, the best effort that we give, in order to improve ourselves; may Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) forgive us in this blessed month of Ramadhān and make us of Ahlul Qur’ān, na’am, even the one who has difficulty in reading the Qur’ān, he will have double reward, yā ‘Abdallāh, Allāh has given us this khayr, khayr upon khayr, ajr upon ajr; may Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) make us reap the benefits, the one who fasts one day, fī sabīlillāh, Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) removes the hellfire from him seventy years; so may Allāh (subhānahu wa ta’āla) keep the hellfire far away from us, and enter us into paradise.
