Upon entering Islām, it is fundamental for one to become grounded in the founding principles of the Religion, in order to be free from innovation and misguidance.

The Prophet of Islām, Muḥammad (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “There are three things, whoever attains them will find the sweetness of faith: when Allāh and His Messenger are more beloved to him than everything else; when he loves another person, he loves him only for the sake of Allāh; and when he hates to return to disbelief [kufr] as he would hate to be thrown into the Fire” [Reported by al-Bukhārī (no. 15)].

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Suḥaymī says: "And indeed Allāh the, Blessed and the Exalted, created the Jinn and the Mankind with great Wisdom. Is it not for the purpose of worshipping Him, the Perfect and Exalted, and nothing else besides him? It is as Allāh, the Blessed and the Exalted, has said, 'And I did not create the Jinn and mankind, except to worship Me' [Sūrah al Dhāriyāt: 56] And the meaning of 'to worship Me' is 'to single Me out in worship'" [Mudhkiratun fil 'Aqeedah (p. 8)].

Count Your Blessings - Be Thankful to Allāh

  Abū Idrīs

Ustādh Abū Idrīs gave the khuṭbah at Masjid al-Furqān (TROID) on 2018.06.29 discussing the blessings of Ḥidāyah (guidance). A reminder to be thankful to Allah for his favours and guidance (to the Book and the Sunnah). The speaker encouraged the audience that when they see their rizq (provisions) diminishing, then turn to Allāh in fear. Also, when receiving blessings and increase, to turn to Allah in fear and thankfulness. He then encouraged the attendees to strive against weaknesses (temptations, evils, one's own soul) and to stand firm against the plots of the Shayṭān. He concluded by lamenting the travesty of a young man being deluded by his sheer love of leadership, such that it corrupts his intentions and leads to his misguided downfall.

Allāh (subhānahu wa taʿālá) said, “O you who believe fear Allāh as he should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims." He has commanded us to have taqwá (fear) of him in numerous places in the Qurʾān. But how does one fear Allāh? And how does this benefit him in this life and in the hereafter?
