Ibn Kathīr (raḥimahullāh) mentions in his tafsīr concerning the virtues of Sūrah Qāf:

Imām Aḥmad recorded that ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (raḍiallāhu ʿanhu) asked Abū Wāqid al-Laythi, "What did the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) recite during the ʿĪd prayer?" Abū Wāqid said, "Sūrah Qāf and Sūrah Iqtarabat [i.e. Sūrah al-Qamar" (Muslim and the four collectors of the Sunan collected this Ḥadīth).

It has also been recorded by Imām Aḥmad, that Umm Hishām bint Ḥarithah said, "For around two years, or a year and a part of another year, our oven and the oven of the Prophet (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) were one and the same. I memorised Sūrah Qāf from the tongue of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who used to recite it every Friday while standing on the minbar delivering the Friday sermon to the people" (Saḥīḥ Muslim).

Abū Dāwūd also recorded that the daughter of al-Hārith ibn al-Nuʿmān said, "I only memorised Sūrah Qāf from the mouth of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) who used to recite it in every Friday khuṭbah. Our oven and the oven of the Messenger (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) were one and the same" (Collected by Muslim and al-Nasāʾī).

Therefore, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to recite this Sūrah during large gatherings such as the ʿĪds and during Friday sermons. He did so because this Sūrah contains news of the beginning of creation, resurrection, the Return, Standing (before Allāh), the Reckoning, Paradise, the Fire, Allāh's reward and punishment, lessons of encouragement, and lessons of discouragement. Allāh knows best. [End Quote]1

In this short, yet succinct reminder, our noble brother goes through the English translation of this Sūrah along with its explanation; recounting the wonder of the disbelievers at the Message sent by Allāh and at the prospect of being resurrected, as well as Allāh's power and ability over what is greater than the Resurrection. This chapter of the Qurʾān also gives a reminder to the Quraysh about the destruction of previous nations due to their disobedience and disbelief, as well as a reminder to mankind about the stupor of death and the blowing of the trumpet on the Day of Judgement.
